Bristol wedding venue spotlight: Paintworks

I adored shooting Kate and Matts relaxed boho style wedding at Paintworks at the beginning of May. It was my first time working at this venue and I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

I am used to being crammed into a hotel room for the ‘getting ready’ wedding photos but the on site apartment at Paintworks where Kate and the girls got ready was a dream. Spacious, light and prettily done out, not to mention right next to the ceremony! It only brings unnecessary stress when your getting ready venue is miles from your ceremony which is miles from your reception. That great Bristol pain in the bum that is traffic could easily have you late and hyperventilating. It’s MUCH nicer to have everything in one place.

The wedding venue itself is ace, Paintworks quirky industrial shapes & bright colours provide a fab contrast to everyone’s formal wedding garb and make for great wedding photos. It has a large chameleonic indoor space, which flexes from ceremony to wedding breakfast to evening party zone! Even if it rained (a constant worry with summer weddings!) the space is airy and adaptable enough to cope with it. Michelle the coordinator was super helpful – in the midst of all her other jobs she even provided us with a bowl of confetti!

It was amazing how a rather bare modern space can be transformed with some soft ambient lighting and a few festoons of fairy lights into a beautiful wedding venue. Paintworks strikes me as a blank canvas that you could easily put your own stamp on so great for creative couples who aren’t looking fora anything too twee.

I have another Paintworks wedding to photograph on Saturday and I can’t wait! Eeeeeeee!
