Wedding venue spotlight: The Square Club

I have worked closely with this fab little boutique wedding venue in Clifton for some years now and have enjoyed every minute. If you are in the market for somewhere a little bit different in the heart of Bristol I urge you to look no further.

This is the low down on the venue from a photographer’s perspective and a gallery of the images I have captured there:

The folks at The Square put a lot of love into their décor – you barely need to dress the place! New paintings and vintage ornaments appear every year making for colourful backgrounds for your wedding photos. The huge mirror in the chameleonic ceremony come wedding breakfast room is so unusual and adds a lovely sense of depth and light. There is usually subtle electro swing music playing while their mega friendly staff whizz about sorting you out with coffees or cocktails.

From a wedding perspective of the best things about The Square is that is has lots of different spaces in one and can cope with all your guests comfortably come rain or shine. It is always better to have your ceremony and reception in one place if you can swing it – it eliminates SO much potential stress, BUT being cooped up for 10 hours in one space can also give you cabin fever! The Square combines a light airy space that serves as their ceremony/breakfast room with a cute bar area downstairs (for boogieing) and a large terrace area out back. You can also pop out to the park in The Berkeley Square proper with your glass of bubbly if the weather is nice.

Being in Clifton the surrounding buildings are lush Georgian numbers, which make for a great background to your wedding photos. I like to do relaxed group and couple shots with a characterful background and the surrounding area fits perfectly. Why would you plump for a chic city wedding and then use a nondescript green space for your wedding photos? Make the most of the place!

I will be joining the guys at The Square for their wedding fair on the 21st August, come on down for a looksy if you’re free!
